1968 Giro d’Italia Race Route Map.
The Giro route was revealed on March 21, 1968, by race director Vincenzo Torriani. The starting date of the race was moved from May 18 to the 20th because of Italy’s general election days, which ended on May 19.
Per race pundits assessed the Giro route as a race geared towards climbers. The inclusion of the brutal climb of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo on stage 12 was as a substantial feature.
